Greece on fire over debt crisis: Latin-American experience repeated in Europe
This weekend I spent long days and evenings in a University auditorium in Athens, where several hundred Greek academics and activists, a handful of Irish colleagues, and few others from the Global South had tense discussions on alternatives for solving the Greek and Irish debt crises.

PRESS RELEASE: Irish national debt audit will determine the real picture
Details of an independent audit to be undertaken into providing a clear picture of Ireland’s national debt were unveiled in Dublin today. Areas of specific reference will be to determine to whom the debt is owed, when it was incurred, how much of it is senior, guaranteed and subordinated debt, and when repayment is due to each creditor.

ACTION ALERT
Ask the EU donors to scale-up budget support for poor countries
Injecting development aid directly to government budgets is often more effective in pulling people out of poverty than funding a myriad of projects. But budget support is under threat. Send a letter to your minister and parliament asking them to scale-up budget support!

Demand IMF profits go to the poorest
The IMF board discusses how to spend $2.8 bn in extra profits from gold sales. A global campaign demands the profits are used for debt cancellation for poor countries. Take part, add your signature!
