Zimbabwe sets out plan to solve its debt problems
In March, the government of debt ridden Zimbabwe launched a policy framework for finding a solution to the country’s debt problems. While welcoming the government’s recognition that the debt issue has not been resolved, Eurodad’s sister network AFRODAD questions the apparent trust Zimbabwe’s government have placed in a process conditional on the same kinds of economic policy reforms that the country unsuccessfully went through in the 1990s.

Citizens standing up against unfair debt
Two years after the Greek debt crisis first appeared in headlines across the globe, policy makers in Europe  are still failing to deal soundly with the crisis. Inspired by the Jubilee movement that has long fought for debt justice in the South; a wave of mobilisation has taken place with, debt campaigners standing up across Europe. Campaigners demand transparency, justice and protection of citizens’ rights against the consequences of financial market failures.

Is the EU ready to take on tax havens at home and away for €1 Trillion Euro Prize
With the €1 Trillion the EU governments lose each year to tax dodging at stake. The prospect of a debt ridden jobless future has EU the asking questions. DG TAXUD the tax arm of the EU civil service will prepare a communication by December on the broad topic of tax havens and unfair tax competition.

Take action: Developing countries lose more to tax dodging than they receive in aid. Tell world leaders to end tax haven secrecy at the next G20.  The petition is available in English, German, Spanish, Italian and French
