EU Reciprocity proposal: a sinking ship

Any discussion of trade, whether over general principles or of technical issues, brings to my mind images of fleets of ocean greyhounds following the trade winds to greener pastures and more exotic locales. This is particularly true concerning the current discussion surrounding the reciprocity regulation put forward by the European Commission.

Bias to report: World Bank releases new Global Financial Development tome

Normally, I enjoy reading flagship annual reports from august international institutions; they can provide useful overviews and normally have one or two nuggets. The World Bank’s new Global Financial Development Report2013, however, left me hoping they don’t issue any more of these.

Eurodad member Oxfam have released a report summarising the outcomes of the Busan Aid Effectiveness conference. The Global Partnership for Effective Development Cooperation, established in Busan, South Korea in 2011, set the international standard on the principles of effective aid and good development to which all development actors should subscribe.

Given that there are a billion hungry people in the world, a coalition of German NGOs and activists are calling on the finance minister to intervene to prevent excessive food speculation under the slogan "You do not play with food!" 

Week of Global Action against Debt will take place worldwide from 8 to 15 October with various actions against Debt and IFIs.
